About Me

Bryan Alkemeyer, Ph.D. (Cornell Univeristy), studies animals in literature and natural history of the Renaissance and 18th century, showing that the meaning of animals shifted during the Enlightenment. He worked for nine years at The College of Wooster, earning tenure in 2018. After moving to Los Angeles on a research fellowship and teaching online for one year during the pandemic, Alkemeyer took a job at an entertainment-sector nonprofit advocating for creative rights. He has worked as a freelance writer in Los Angeles since 2026.
